A bit of history about South Park The animated series was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
The creators of the show are twenty-something men who, in their spare time, dress up in costumes and scrawl crude slogans on city streets. Their public persona is that of a pair of foul-mouthed twenty-something dimwits with no conception of social responsibility. The two launch their attack against a third-rate establishment that has become commonplace: the imbecile system that oppresses its few intelligent members (the vast majority of its citizens are brain-dead) by leaving them dependent on government handouts. Their gimmick is to parody the actions of that self-serving institution by making them a part of their very show.
They are, then, the latest manifestation of the humour that has been popular in the West since the Romans: It is the humour of scurrilous satire.
South Park
South Park was first broadcast on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997. That's seven and a half years ago. At that point it was a funny show. Now it is a funny show. Like it or hate it, you can't deny that South Park is the greatest show on TV. For South Park fans, this isn't a contradiction.
South Park is a completely different show to the one that was first broadcast in 1997.
The concept of South Park has changed very little, but the character of the characters has changed a lot. In 1997, the show revolved around the Cartman character, a black kid who is a loon who enjoys bullying others. When he was discovered by the teachers at South Park Elementary, he was expelled. Cartman didn't have many friends, but he had a secret weapon. He had a book that was called The Big Book of Snuff and he used it to terrify his enemies. It was his only weapon, but it was almost his only friend, too.
Now Cartman is still a loon who enjoys bullying others, but he has a new best friend. The Big Book of Snuff has been replaced by a book called The Big Book of Jesus and, although he is the show's resident Jesus, he's still a loon.
If you look at the characters at the end of season 19, you'll see that the children have aged. That's because they have changed a lot. At the start of season 19, there were only two original characters, Eric Cartman and Jimmy
